Carbondale police investigating incident on South Lake Heights Avenue

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The Carbondale Police Department is asking residents to avoid the 400 block of South Lake Heights Avenue due to an ongoing police investigation.

Police issued a public alert Wednesday advising the public to stay away from the area until further notice.

Authorities said there is no threat to the public at this time.

Police have not released details about the nature of the investigation.

Earlier Wednesday, officers responded to a shooting involving one person at the Fields Apartments complex on South Lewis Lane. Authorities have not said whether the two incidents are connected.

No additional information has been released.
