Carbondale police looking for man considered armed and dangerous

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Carbondale police are looking for a man considered armed and dangerous who faces weapons, fleeing police and reckless driving charges.
Nekuma L. Johnson, 30, of Cairo faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of weapons, aggravated fleeing to elude and reckless driving.
Carbondale police detectives say a suspect displayed a weapon in the 700 block of North Giant City Road and ran from officers in a white sedan on October 21. Johnson was identified as the suspect.
A witness reported the suspect left in a white Chevrolet sedan. Officers tried to prevent the vehicle from leaving but, it was driven south on North Giant City Road at a high rate of speed, according to police.
Officers did not pursue the vehicle when the driver began to drive recklessly. Police say the vehicle eventually turned east onto East Walnut Street from Giant City Road and continued at a high rate of speed.
Johnson had not been located as of the afternoon of Wednesday, October 25.
