CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – The Carbondale Police Department has purchased individual trauma kits for each officer.

The kits contain critical, lifesaving medical equipment that officers can use to provide emergency care to members of the public or themselves in the field before professional medical services arrive.

These kits allow officers to improve efficiency and readiness, enabling all sworn officers to act promptly and effectively during critical moments.

Carbondale officers receive emergency medical response training and have used similar equipment.

The new kits will be assigned to each officer to keep with them on duty.

Carbondale Interim City Manager and Police Chief Stan Reno says the new kits help officers respond quickly when arriving to medical situations.

“Providing every officer with a dedicated trauma kit ensures that they are always prepared for emergency medical situations when responding to an incident in the community or ensuring their own safety. This is another step toward our commitment to the wellbeing of the community we serve.”
