Carbondale police persuade person from jumping off roof

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Carbondale police officers responded to a person sitting on the edge of a roof on Monday, March 25.
Officers responded to the 200 block of West Main Street in response to a person suffering from a mental health crisis around 3 a.m.
They found the person sitting on the edge of a roof threatening self-harm by jumping from the roof.
Officers went up on the roof and talked the person safely down.
Carbondale firefighters assisted in providing the ladder truck for officers and the person to climb down safely.
No one was injured.
The person was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for a mental health evaluation.
