Carbondale police seek help locating missing teen

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Carbondale police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 16-year-old boy.

Amaree N. Johnson was last seen leaving his home in the 300 block of East Willow Street around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 1, police said.

He is described as 5-foot-5, 130 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a white shirt and blue jeans. Johnson is known to frequent the Tatum Heights and Lake Heights neighborhoods in Carbondale.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Carbondale Police Department at (618) 549-2121. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to the Carbondale/SIU Crime Stoppers at (618) 549-COPS or the Murphysboro/Jackson County tip line at (618) 687-COPS.

The investigation is ongoing.
