Carbondale police seek volunteers for Halloween ‘Pumpkin Patrol’

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) — The Carbondale Police Department is recruiting volunteers for its annual Halloween safety detail, the “Pumpkin Patrol,” to be held Friday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The department has sponsored Pumpkin Patrol since 1992. Volunteers wearing orange safety vests and/or driving vehicles bearing the Pumpkin Patrol logo will monitor areas where children are trick-or-treating, identify potential hazards and offer a safe place for children who feel unsafe. Police continue to encourage adults to accompany children while trick-or-treating.
