Carbondale police welcome back SIU students, offer Who to Call resource

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Carbondale police welcome back Southern Illinois University students.

The school began classes for the fall semester on Monday, August 19.

Carbondale police says they welcome new and returning students and wish them a safe and successful school year.

Police encourage students and all citizens to call the police department if they see something suspicious in the city or something that needs to be addressed by one of the other city departments or other entities in Carbondale.

Check out this “Who to Call” page for issues off campus that require one of the city of Carbondale Departments to address.

The city of Carbondale also has a tool called See Click Fix. It is a web tool that allows citizens to report non-emergency neighborhood issues off campus.

Police ask people to not use this system to report emergencies. Call 911 for emergencies requiring law enforcement, fire department or an ambulance response. Call the Water and Sewer Hotline at 618-529-1731 for water main breaks and sewer stoppages.

For non-emergency police services off-campus in Carbondale please call the City of Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200 or 911 in the event of an emergency.
