Carbondale to celebrate grand opening of Southern Illinois Multimodal Station

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale will celebrate the grand opening of the new Southern Illinois Multimodal Station with a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony Friday, Aug. 28.
The event begins at 2 p.m. at the station, located at 401 S. Illinois Ave.
The celebration will include a performance by the Southern Illinois University Brass Ensemble, remarks from elected officials, project partners and transportation leaders, and an official ribbon cutting.
SIU cheerleaders and the Saluki Shakers will also participate, and visitors will have an opportunity to tour the completed facility following the ceremony.
The city called the new station a significant investment in Carbondale and transportation across Southern Illinois.
