Carbondale to host Juneteenth celebration, community discussion

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The city of Carbondale and the local NAACP branch are hosting a community dinner and discussion on June 17 at the Carbondale Civic Center.

The event, part of the “At the Table” Dinner & Dialogue series, will celebrate Juneteenth and feature a presentation on the significance of the holiday.

Mayor Carolin Harvey will kick off the evening with a discussion on “Freedom to Freedom,” followed by a presentation by the NAACP.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required due to limited seating. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the dinner and discussion begin at 5:30 p.m.
