Carbondale woman facing firearms charges after officers hear gunshot

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Carbondale woman faces firearms charges after police responded to a report for a person with a firearm during a fight.

Kaliyah D. Parker, 23, of Carbondale faces a charge of unlawful use of a weapon and no Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID).

Carbondale police officers responded to the 900 block of East Grand Avenue for a report of a person with a firearm during a dispute on Thursday, March 21 at 10:25 p.m.

Officers found a group of people in an argument. As they were investigating, officers heard a gunshot.

Officers found two loaded firearms that had been discarded in the area.

Parker was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
