Caregiver arrested for financial exploitation of elderly victim

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Authorities have arrested a caregiver accused of stealing more than $23,000 from an 87-year-old victim.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of theft and financial exploitation on Feb. 4. Investigators determined that Angelyn R. Messick, the employed caregiver, stole the money on multiple occasions between December 2024 and February 2025.
Messick was arrested on Feb. 16 and charged with four felony counts, including theft/deception, theft deception intent senior, and financial exploitation of an elderly person.
Messick was taken into custody and transported to the Williamson County Jail.
The sheriff’s office credited Williamson County State’s Attorney Ted Hampson with assisting in the investigation.
