1 shot, suspect located in Carterville

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (KBSI) – One person was shot and the suspect has been located in Carterville Friday morning.

Carterville Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of shots fired at Integrated Health located at 310 West Plaza Drive in Carterville at 10:15 a.m.

Michelle Aumiller, 32, was shot and taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she later passed away.

The attack was not a random act of violence, according to the City of Carterville. It was domestic in nature and targeted to one person.

The suspect, Robert Aumiller, was found dead in his car about three miles from Integrated Health from an apparent gunshot wound. No further risk remains to the public.

Integrated Health is located at 310 Plaza Drive. The business posted on Facebook, “Due to Emergency Circumstances Beyond our control, the Carterville Location will be Closed for the rest of the day.”

Carterville police confirm that police responded to the area.

A posting on John A. Logan College’s website said off-campus shooting happened at Integrated Health. The college advised students to avoid campus until the situation has been resolved.

A posting on John A. Logan’s website says, “The situation near campus has been resolved. The lockdown has been lifted and campus is open for normal operations. Thank you for your cooperations.”

A nearby business, De le flour, confirms they were on lockdown as police responded.

Vienna Public School District sent an email saying, “out of an abundance of caution” the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department requested all Johnson County Schools go on a precautionary lockdown.” All students and staff are safe, according to the school. The Johnson County Sheriff lifted the lockdown.
