Caruthersville fire chief retires after 53 years of service

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – The long-time fire chief in Caruthersville worked his last 24-hour shift on May 31.

Chief Charlie Jones clocked out for the final time after 53 years of service.

Last weekend Chief Jones was honored by the Caruthersville Fire Department at his retirement ceremony.

Chief Jones was joined at the ceremony by members of fire departments from all over southeast Missouri, several local and state government officials, past CFD members, as well as family and friends from the Caruthersville community.

Chief Jones was honored with several plaques and certificates, retirement gifts, and several memorable thank you stories.
