Caruthersville PD asks for help finding murder suspect

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – The Caruthersville Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating a Texas man wanted in a homicide that happened in Caruthersville on June 11.

Eddie Dewayne Hunt Jr., of Mesquite, Texas is accused of shooting 23-year-old Wayneasha Carter of Caruthersville. He faces charges of murder first degree and armed criminal action.

Carter had stepped out of her vehicle and walked to take to several people in the road in front of 13th Street when shots came from the side of a home at 408 East 13th Street.

Carter was shot. She was taken to a hospital in Hayti where she was pronounced dead.

The Caruthersville Police Department, Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated.

A warrant was issued for Hunt’s arrest after a probable cause affidavit was submitted to the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney.

Hunt is originally from Hayti Heights, Missouri and has known to frequent St. Louis and Columbia, according to the Caruthersville Police Department. He also has family in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area.

Hunt is considered to be armed and dangerous. The public is advised to use extreme cause and not approach him.
