Caruthersville police officer hailed as hero for stopping wrong-way driver

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — Officer Rodney Jackson of the Caruthersville Police Department is being commended for his life-saving actions during an early morning incident involving a wrong-way driver on I-155.

Jackson was on patrol when he received a report of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. He quickly activated his emergency lights and intercepted the vehicle while coordinating with dispatch to warn other drivers.

Thanks to Jackson’s swift response, the driver was safely stopped without any civilian collisions or injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

The Caruthersville Police Department praised Jackson’s actions as heroic, citing his vigilance, professionalism and calm under pressure.
