Century Casino Cape Girardeau breaks ground for hotel development

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Century Casino in Cape Girardeau held a groundbreaking Thursday for an upcoming hotel development.

The new $26 million development will be six stories with 68,000 square feet. The hotel will have 69 rooms.

The new hotel will be the first to overlook the riverfront, a popular area for the city of Cape Girardeau that sometimes gets overlooked.

But with the 26 million dollar building project that is all going to change. The 69 room hotel is expected to open in late 2023.

The hope for the hotel is to broaden the reach for travelers coming into Cape Girardeau.

“We’re hoping this also spurs other development, it gets other people excited to continue to use the growth in downtown Cape.”

“This day May 26, 2022 not only marks the construction of a new building but will signify a change in the landscape of our community for decades to come,” said Lyle Randolph, vice president and general manager of Century Casino Cape Girardeau. “We’re hoping this also spurs other development. It gets other people excited to continue to use the growth in downtown Cape.”

First check in is expected in late 2023.
