Child safely recovered in Missouri minutes after AMBER Alert issued

OZARK, Mo., (KBSI) — A child reported abducted in connection with a homicide investigation in Texas was safely recovered Saturday afternoon in Christian County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

An AMBER Alert was issued at 2:13 p.m. Jan. 31 after authorities in Mansfield, Texas, reported a child abduction related to a homicide. Within minutes of the alert being broadcast, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper located the suspect vehicle in Ozark.

Officials said the trooper arrested the suspect without incident and safely recovered the child by 2:20 p.m., less than 10 minutes after the alert was issued. Authorities credited license plate reader technology and tips from the public for the rapid recovery.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol also thanked its radio operators for quickly disseminating the alert and the public for sharing the information. The Mansfield Police Department assisted in the investigation.
