City of Cape Girardeau launches TextMyGov for real-time resident updates

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Cape Girardeau has launched TextMyGov, a platform allowing residents to receive real-time updates, news and information about community events and initiatives via text messaging.
“We’re enhancing the way we connect with citizens,” said City Manager Kenneth Haskin. “TextMyGov provides a simple and effective way to keep residents informed about what’s happening in Cape Girardeau.”
The city will officially launch the text messaging system this spring. Residents may receive a text message from 91896 to initiate the service. Users can opt-out by texting “STOP” and opt-in by texting “CAPE” to 91896.
After sending the initial keyword, users will be asked to reply “YES” to confirm opt-in. The city encourages residents to take advantage of the new service to stay updated on city notifications.
