City of Cape Girardeau pumping well breaks down

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Some Cape Girardeau residents may experience discoloration in their water on Wednesday.
The water is safe to use normally, according to the city of Cape.
Wednesday morning, Well 17, a crucial pumping well supplying water to the City of Cape Girardeau, experienced a breakdown, according to a message from the City of Cape.
The city and Alliance Water Resources are working to repair and replace the pump motor. City leaders expect it to be resolved by the end of the day.
During the repair process, residents might encounter discoloration. Alliance mobilized another crew to ensure uninterrupted water supply by preparing for intake at our secondary location for the City of Cape Girardeau.
