City of Jackson to conduct fire hydrant testing May 19-June 20
JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Jackson will begin flow testing over 350 fire hydrants on May 19, with completion expected by June 20.
The testing area includes the region between Shawnee Boulevard to the east, Farmington Road to the west, and the city limit lines to the north and south.
Residents may notice signs of testing, including fire crew vehicles, water on the ground, slightly discolored water and air sputtering from faucets.
While the testing may cause temporary water discoloration, it does not affect the safety of the water supply. Residents can clear up discolored water by flushing their plumbing.
The city reminds residents to keep a 3-foot clear space around fire hydrants, as required by the adopted Fire Code.
