PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – The City of Paducah Compost Facility is closed beginning January 29 due to routine grinding of brush until further notice.

It is located at 1560 North 8th Street.

The Compost Facility received a more than normal supply of organic material over the past several weekss That significantly reduced the amount of available space.

The facility closed last September into October for grinding.

City leaders say it is necessary to complete the materials grinding process again at this time.

The regular schedule for the Compost Facility, which is operated by the Public Works Department, is Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.

It accepts brush, leaves, and yard debris from Paducah residents at no charge.

There is a fee for contractors and those outside the city limits to drop off yard debris.

Premium compost, wood chip compost, and raw wood chips are available for purchase by the bucket load.

Contact the Public Works Department at 270-444-8511 to ask about product availability.
