Cleanup crews continue to volunteer in Glenallen

GLENALLEN, Mo. (KBSI)- Coroner, Calvin Troxell had a busy week serving his beloved community after the devastation of an EF2 tornado that hit the Glenallen area.
Troxell says, “And all of a sudden…it’s here.”
Now in the aftermath of destruction, the town is coming together with volunteers to help those who need it.
Most of the homes in Glenallen have been severely damaged and some no longer exist. With this kind of damage, there are large amounts of debris left to clean up.
Troxell says, “We’ve made some headway today, southern solid waste from Marble Hill, is helping us to get things organized, they’re going to actually be doing pickups.”
From there the waste will be picked up from Sunny Solid waste or Waste Connections.
All of these services are being provided by donations.
Jordan carver is the general manager for equipment share in Cape Girardeau, who says they’re just trying their best to help in any way they can. “Right now, what we’ve got is our larger excavator, there’s some things that are pulling limbs, trees off of houses, we’re cutting them up and trying to make them, into condensed piles so it’s a bit more of a manageable situation.”
Several companies both local and national are also helping with the cleanup, sorting through what can be recycled or repurposed.
