Coach arrested after altercation at the Sportsplex in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — An altercation broke out Sunday between coaches of visiting teams during a travel basketball tournament at the Cape Girardeau Sportsplex.

The game was halted, and the two coaches were asked to leave the facility. Other games were temporarily paused until the coaches departed.

As the coaches exited, one allegedly made a threat against the other, prompting police to respond to the Sportsplex.

The suspect was detained in the parking lot and taken into custody. Authorities confirmed no weapons were found and no shots were fired.

The incident is under review to ensure safety protocols were followed.
