Community Counseling Center opens John A. Hudak Treatment Center in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Community Counseling Center has opened the John A. Hudak Treatment Center at 1987 Rusmar St., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held yesterday.

The facility, named after the center’s former executive director, will provide intensive residential treatment for individuals with mental health or co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions.

The center will offer short-term diversion beds for up to 90 days, helping individuals transition back into the community or prevent placement in more restrictive settings.

The project was made possible through American Rescue Plan Act funding. Community Counseling Center CEO Wendy Ice recognized the State of Missouri, the Department of Mental Health and the Missouri Behavioral Health Council for their commitment to supporting behavioral health infrastructure.

Ice noted that the idea for the facility began during Hudak’s tenure. “John saw the need for this type of facility clearly,” Ice said. “It’s a privilege to dedicate this building in memory of someone who made such a lasting impact.”
