Community volunteers serve at warming center

SOUTHERN Ill., (KBSI) — The Sisters Rise Women’s Ministry volunteered at a local warming center, serving a meal and spending time with guests.

The ministry, a newly formed 501(c)(3) organization, plans to open a recovery resource center in Saline County. The center will provide support services for women returning to the community after treatment or incarceration.

Lynda Wright, with the ministry, described the experience as “profound,” allowing the group to provide essential care and compassion to vulnerable community members.

Since Dec. 1, more than 25 home-cooked meals have been donated to the warming center by community members, groups and churches.

The community’s efforts have made a significant impact, ensuring the well-being of warming center guests.
