Conservation Department offers free prescribed fire training for landowners

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo., (KBSI) – The Missouri Department of Conservation is inviting landowners to attend a free prescribed burn workshop on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Horton Farm Conservation Area.
Advance registration is required and can be completed online at Events | Missouri Department of Conservation.
After registering, participants must complete the mandatory online portion of the prescribed burn course. The virtual training carries a $25 fee, and attendees should bring their certificate of completion to the in-person workshop. The online course can be accessed at hunter-ed.com.
Participants are asked to wear long-sleeved shirts, pants made of natural fibers such as 100% cotton, leather gloves, safety glasses and closed-toe boots.
