Consolidated Election in Illinois set for April 4
JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – Tomorrow is April 4, 2023: also known as the Consolidated Election in Jackson County, Ill.
Many candidates and officials often encourage people to vote to exercise their rights.
Unlike the general election last November, this election revolves around municipalities.
Southern Illinois’s Jackson County Clerk and Recorder Frank Byrd reminds people that they are in a grace period for tomorrow, which means voters may come to the polling station and register to vote and vote the same day.
“You’ll need two forms of ID; we encourage people to have a photo ID but you’ll need two forms one at least has to have an address that you currently live; you have to be you know you have to be a resident of the county if you’re going to vote in Jackson,” said Byrd.
Jackson County also will be offering three different ways to assist people with their voting: the grace period, voting at the courthouse, and curbside voting.
“You can just come here and of course, we had to verify everything but then you would be able to vote; also curbside voting if you have an individual that’s unable to get out of the car, we will send election judges out to help that person and give them a ballot with the secrecy sleeve and everything and they can vote. We’ll bring it in, tabulate it, and give them a receipt,” said Byrd.
