Construction at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center to affect traffic, access

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — Several construction projects are set to begin this fall at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, affecting traffic, parking and access to parts of the campus.

Some of the projects could last up to three years.

Medical Center Director Kevin Bass said the upgrades will ultimately allow the facility to provide better services and care to veterans.

Construction will take place in several areas across the campus and will result in temporary road and entrance closures. Some clinical services also will be relocated during the work.

Some accessible parking spaces may be temporarily unavailable. Additional accessible spaces have been added near the Learning Resources Center and outside Urgent Care.

Officials are asking veterans and visitors to watch for signs indicating changes to road closures, building access and parking.

The medical center said it will provide updates and closure maps as construction progresses.
