Construction begins on DG Market in Carterville; labor union pickets site

CARTERVILLE, Ill., (KBSI) — Construction has begun on a new DG Market in the 800 block of South Division in Carterville, city officials said.

The City of Carterville said members of Laborers’ Union Local 773 are conducting a legal picket at the site.

Officials noted that while the city supports the use of local labor, it does not have the authority to require contractors on private projects to hire specific workers.

Drivers are advised to use caution in the area due to construction activity, picketing and the nearby school zone.
