Convicted felon caught with handgun during probation check

MURRAY, Ky., (KBSI) — A Murray man was arrested Tuesday after authorities said a handgun was found at his residence in violation of state law.

According to deputies, the weapon was discovered around 8:30 a.m. April 21 while assisting Calloway County Probation and Parole.

Shawn Wilkinson, 38, had a prior felony conviction in 2024, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm. He was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.

Wilkinson is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
