Cook County reports first Measles cases of 2025

CHICAGO, Ill., (KBSI) — Health officials in Cook County have confirmed two cases of measles, marking the first instances in the county this year.
The cases involve an adult suburban resident with unknown vaccination status and an adult Chicago resident who had received one dose of the MMR vaccine and recently traveled internationally through O’Hare Airport.
The Chicago Department of Public Health and Cook County Department of Public Health are investigating the cases and working to identify individuals who may have been exposed.

Chicago Public Library – Independence Branch, 4024 N. Elston Ave., on April 21
Fittingly Delicious, 3939 W. Irving Park Rd., on April 21
O’Hare Airport, Terminals 1, on April 22-23
Aldi, 7235 39th St, Lyons, IL, on April 25
Shell, 3901 S. Harlem Ave., Stickney, IL, on April 27
Mobil, 2945 S. Harlem Ave, Berwyn, IL, on April 28
Individuals who may have been exposed should contact their healthcare provider to determine the need for testing or vaccination.
The MMR vaccine is 97% effective against measles and provides lifelong immunity with two doses. Health officials urge individuals to ensure they are fully vaccinated, especially before traveling internationally.
