Cooling center opens in West McCracken County amid extended power outage

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — McCracken County Emergency Management is opening a cooling center Tuesday evening for residents affected by an extended power outage in West McCracken County.
According to McCracken County Emergency Management, power is expected to remain out for approximately eight to 10 hours.
The cooling center will open at 5:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 9701 Blandville Road.
Officials said the site will provide an air-conditioned shelter, bottled water and snacks for residents impacted by the outage.
Emergency Management encourages older adults, young children and people with heat-sensitive medical conditions to use the cooling center until power is restored.
Residents may arrive at the cooling center any time after 5:30 p.m.
