COVID-19 on the rise again in Scott County

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – COVID-19 is on the rise in Scott County. Scott County Health Department Administrator Barry Cook says cases have surpassed the 100 mark.

“Cases are on the increase,” Cook said. “We currently have over the past seven days 125 cases. Definitely not at Omnicron levels, but definitely seeing an increase.”

With fall coming around the corner, and school starting in August, COVID-19 cases are likely to be on the higher side due to more people being close proximity to each other.

“The numbers are still more in adults than in kids,” Cook said. “It’s been that way pretty much all along, but that’s still holing pretty much true.”

Cook encourages everyone to take the usual precautions like practicing good hygiene. That includes washing your hands, using hand sanitizer, and wearing masks when in large gatherings or avoid them altogether.

Cook says those people who are coming to the hospital sick with COVID are those who are not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated.
