Crash closes US-51 intersection north of De Soto
DE SOTO, Ill., (KBSI) — UPDAATE- A crash between a semi-trailer and a passenger car on U.S.-51 near Truax Traer Road sent one person to a regional hospital with injuries.
The accident occurred around 10:32 a.m. The passenger vehicle caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames.
The victim’s condition was not immediately available.
U.S.-51 remains closed as crews work to upright and remove the semi-trailer.
A serious crash involving a semi-truck and a car has closed the intersection of U.S.-51 and Truax Traer Road north of De Soto until further notice.
Illinois State Police, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and De Soto and Elkville fire departments are responding to the scene.
One vehicle caught fire, and both vehicles rolled off the roadway.
The highway will remain closed pending further investigation.
