Crews are still on scene nearly 18 hours after fire breaks out at battery plant

MADISON COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Crews are still on scene nearly 18 hours after battling a fire at a lithium-ion battery plant in Fredericktown.

According to the Fredericktown Police Department there is still a strongly recommended evacuation order for those who live within close range of Madison County Road 277. The Sheriff’s Office says this is NOT a forced evacuation however it is strongly recommended to those within close range of the factory.

Those who do evacuate are welcome to evacuate to the Madison County Health Department.

The Madison County Health Department says their doors are open to anyone who feels like they need to evacuate their home at this time.

According to the Police Department they still have police and fire personnel working on the fire as it is still active, but the fire is contained.
