GLENALLEN, Mo. (KBSI) – Black River Electric Cooperative crews have restored power to about 2,100 members since the tornado ripped through Bollinger and Wayne counties Wednesday morning.

As of 6 a.m. Friday, April 7, there were 98 members without power.

Crews made a lot of progres Thursday by replacing the majority of the 100 broken poles and replacing miles of powerlines.

BREC members with service entrance damage (meter base or mast pulled off the house) are encouraged to contact an electrician to make repairs before they can be reconnected.

Any structural damage can affect the safety/integrity of the service. Call the BREC Service Department with questions, 1-800-392-4711.

All crews will continue working Easter weekend until all repairs are made.

BREC reminds the public to never touch, move or drive over downed power lines. Before clearing debris from yards, roads, driveways, etc. look for power lines in the debris field.
