CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Students at Cape Girardeau Career & Technology Center gained hands-on experience in emergency medical services during a visit from an air medical team.

Officials said high school EMT students participated in training exercises and learned about equipment and procedures from Air Evac 80 based in Perryville. Students also had the opportunity to tour the helicopter and hear from flight medics about their work.

Basic Flight students also attended the demonstration, which school officials said provided real-world insight into careers in emergency medicine.

School leaders said the experience helped inspire students interested in healthcare careers.
