FOX23 News at 9 p.m

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Eligible homeowners have until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to apply for the Cape Girardeau County Real Estate Property Tax Credit Program.

The program, approved by voters on April 7, provides property tax relief by limiting certain increases in real estate taxes on eligible homeowners’ primary residences.

Voters approved two ballot measures creating the program: Proposition A, the Senior Citizen Property Tax Credit, and Proposition B, the General Homestead Property Tax Credit. County officials have combined both into a single application for eligible residents.

Officials are encouraging homeowners to apply online to avoid long lines. The application portal is available through the county’s website.
