Deadline nears for Paducah Tree Voucher Program applications
FOX23 News at 9 p.m
PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Paducah Parks and Recreation is accepting applications through Jan. 9 for its Tree Voucher Program, which provides homeowners with financial assistance to plant shade trees and help strengthen the city’s tree canopy.
The program offers a $250 voucher to owners of single-family residential properties within the Paducah city limits. The voucher can be used toward the purchase of approved shade tree species at participating local nurseries.
Paducah Parks and Recreation is partnering with James Sanders Nursery and Edwards Nursery to offer eligible trees. After a voucher is redeemed, the nursery will invoice the city for the cost of the trees, up to the $250 limit. Homeowners are responsible for any remaining costs, including planting, delivery and maintenance.
The program applies only to shade trees, not ornamental varieties. Guidelines on eligible species and required planting sizes are available online along with the application. Residents may apply at the Tree Voucher Program website or in person at the Parks and Recreation Office, 2701 Park Avenue, during business hours.
Vouchers will be issued in February 2026 so trees can be purchased ahead of the spring planting season. The city has allocated $150,000 for the effort, and vouchers will remain valid through December 2026.
