Deadly rollover crash in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – An Indiana man died in a crash early Monday morning in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash on Hwy. 148 at the intersection of Renfron Lake Road.

Deputies found a single vehicle crash. Roadway evidence indicted that the vehicle was traveling north on Hwy. 148 approaching Renfro Lake Road when it went off the west side of the road and overturned several times before striking a tree.

Michael T. Ford, 55, of Evansville, Ind. was the only person in the vehicle. He was taken to a hospital in Herrin where he was pronounced dead.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.

The Zeigler Police Department, Zeigler Fire Department, Christopher Police Department and Christopher Fire Department assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
