Deputies find cocaine during Graves County traffic stop

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A Colorado woman was arrested early Thursday after a traffic stop in Graves County led deputies to allegedly find crack cocaine in her vehicle.
According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at approximately 4:11 a.m. July 9 after a red Dodge van committed a traffic violation.
During the investigation, deputies searched the vehicle and identified the driver as Kathy A. Copeland, also known as Kathy Kerns, 63, of Evans, Colorado.
Deputies said the search resulted in the discovery of crack cocaine.
Copeland was arrested and taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being lodged at an out-of-county detention facility.
She is charged with:
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine)
- Prescription medication not in its proper container
- Traffic infractions
The case remains under investigation.
