Cape Girardeau donation drive wraps up
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — A community donation drive aimed at supporting people experiencing homelessness is wrapping up Sunday in Cape Girardeau.
According to a social media post from Impact One More, the “Dignity in Action” initiative partnered with Rock of Cape Church and Street Level Cape Girardeau to collect essential items for the unsheltered community.
Organizers said the drive, which ran from March 29 through April 12, focused on gathering hygiene products and basic necessities. Items requested included toothpaste, toothbrushes, washcloths, wet wipes, soap, toilet paper, notebooks, pens, underwear, shampoo, ponchos and sunscreen.
Donations could be made online or dropped off at a designated location in Cape Girardeau.
Organizers say the collected items will be used to create care bags and distributed during an outreach event scheduled for April 18 at Street Level Cape Girardeau. The event is expected to include a meal service, access to a clothing closet and additional support for those in need.
Impact One More says the goal of the initiative is to provide resources while promoting dignity and respect for individuals without stable housing.
