Discovery Playhouse to celebrate Worldwide Day of Play on Sept. 26

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Discovery Playhouse will participate in the Our World: Worldwide Day of Play on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The global event, presented by Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums, encourages children and their families to get active and experience learning through play.

Families are invited to explore Discovery Playhouse’s 29 interactive exhibits, visit its planetarium and create art in the museum’s studio. The museum will also offer additional activities and welcome special local guests during the event.

“We are thrilled to participate in Worldwide Day of Play again this year at Discovery Playhouse,” Executive Director Courtney Corbett said. “It is our goal every day to provide children the opportunity to use their imaginations and create their own form of play.”

Corbett said the museum’s environment gives children the freedom to discover and learn in their own ways.

Discovery Playhouse is located at 502 Broadway St. in Cape Girardeau. The 7,500-square-foot children’s museum offers exhibits, programs, workshops and events focusing on science, art and math.
