HICKMAN, Ky., (KBSI) – The Fulton County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that human remains discovered last month in a rural area of Hickman belong to Nicky Avent, a person previously reported missing.
The remains were found on Sept. 14 by a citizen operating an ATV. An investigation was immediately launched by local law enforcement agencies and the coroner’s office. DNA samples were collected and analyzed, leading to the positive identification.
According to the medical examiner, there were no signs of foul play.
The Hickman Police Department is now working to reconstruct the events leading up to Avent’s disappearance. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the lead investigator, Officer James Blakney.
Avent’s family has been notified. Officials ask for the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
