GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Two Mayfield men, including an employee of a Dollar General store, were arrested Monday following an investigation into an overnight burglary, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called Monday morning to investigate a burglary at a Dollar General store on U.S. Highway 45 north of Mayfield.
Investigators said cash and merchandise were stolen from the store sometime overnight between Aug. 30 and Aug. 31.
The investigation led deputies to obtain a search warrant for a Mayfield motel room that had recently been rented by an employee of the store.
Deputies searched the room late Monday morning and recovered cash believed to have been stolen from the store, along with stolen merchandise, according to the sheriff’s office.
Anthony E. Lawrence, 32, of Mayfield, was arrested on charges of burglary and theft. Investigators said Lawrence was an employee of the Dollar General and had keys that were used to enter the store.
The investigation led deputies to a second suspect who investigators said provided transportation to Lawrence during the burglary.
Jerimiah P. Thomas, 20, of Mayfield, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Monday. Deputies said Thomas was found with cash and merchandise stolen from the store.
Thomas is charged with criminal facilitation to burglary and theft.
Both men were taken to an out-of-county detention center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
