Doniphan man sentenced to 5 years for church burglary

DONIPHAN, Mo., (KBSI) — Cody Vance, 34, of Doniphan, Missouri, was sentenced to five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to second-degree burglary and felony stealing.

Vance admitted to unlawfully entering Pilgrim’s Rest Church in Fairdealing, Missouri, on Aug. 7, 2024, and stealing over $1,500 worth of tools. The Highway Patrol’s Criminal Investigation Unit recovered most of the stolen property after Vance confessed to the crime.

Circuit Judge Kacey Proctor considered the Sentencing Assessment Report and arguments from the prosecution and defense before handing down the sentence on Dec. 17, 2024.
