Doniphan school closes as the area braces for major flooding

DONIPHAN, Mo. (KBSI) – The current river has crested to 22.50 feet as of Thursday morning.
According to the Doniphan Police Department the river levels are at 22.50 feet which is a major flood stage.
Many residents have evacuated the area after the Fire Department and Emergency Management workers went door to door urging people to move to higher ground.
The area saw a major flood that left many people in danger and stuck in flood waters in 2017 according to Ripley County Emergency Management.
The Doniphan R-1 school district is closed today and tomorrow November 7 and 8, 2024 because of the flood warning and dangerous road conditions in some areas.
According to the Doniphan Police Department the River Front Park is closed due to flooding.
