Downtown Cape Girardeau Coca-Cola mural gets first renovation in more than four decades

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – If you’ve walked or driven through downtown Cape Girardeau since Wednesday, you may have noticed the Coca-Cola mural along Water Street got a facelift.

This mural, which is on the side of Port Cape Girardeau Restaurant and Lounge, was originally pained in 1940.

Freelance artist Craig Thomas finished his update to the mural on Wednesday, freshening up the local attraction with a new paint job while restoring its original elements.

This was the mural’s first renovation since 1978.
