CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Governors has appointed Dr. Brad Hodson as the university’s 19th president, effective July 1, 2025.

Hodson, executive vice president at Missouri Southern State University, was chosen following a national search. He has 30 years of experience in higher education, including expertise in enrollment, philanthropy, fundraising and financial management.

“Dr. Hodson meets and exceeds the criteria we established for the next president,” said Board of Governors President Jim Limbaugh. “We are confident he is the right candidate to advance the university’s mission and drive further progress.”

Hodson said he is grateful for the opportunity and looks forward to joining the university community.

As executive vice president at Missouri Southern, Hodson oversaw budget strategy and development, led admissions efforts and worked with elected officials to secure funding for the university. He also led a significant increase in annual gift revenue.

Hodson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Missouri Southern, an MBA from Pittsburg State University and a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
