Dr. Deborah Barnett appointed to Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Gov. JB Pritzker has appointed Dr. Deborah Barnett to the Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees for a six-year term.

Barnett, a lifelong southern Illinois resident, brings experience in economic development, higher education and workforce innovation to the board.

She currently serves as executive director of Southern Illinois Now, a regional economic development hub covering 17 counties.

Barnett is a two-time SIU graduate, holding master’s and doctoral degrees in Workforce Education and Development.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Barnett to the Board of Trustees,” said Phil Gilbert, board chair. “Her leadership in workforce development and economic innovation makes her an exceptional addition.”
